The 61st Annual Meeting of the Academy of Aphasia will be hosted by the University of Reading, Whitenights campus, UK. The on-campus conference venues will be the Palmer Building on the 21st and 22nd of October (Saturday and Sunday) and the Meadow Suite in the historic Park House on the 23rd of October (Monday). Saturday’s opening night reception will take place at the Museum of English Rural Life, which explores the history of the English countryside and its people. We encourage onsite attendance, although we also offer the option to participate online via an interactive hybrid platform.

We are very enthusiastic about this year’s program, which includes keynote presentations by Prof. Sophie Scott of University College London (UCL) and Dr. Sudha Seshadri of the University of Texas, Health Science Center at San Antonio. The program also features eight, thematically organized platform sessions, and an interactive lunchtime panel discussion entitled Equity in Science. Across the eight platform sessions, two symposia and one mini-workshop are incorporated. The program also affords dedicated time slots for each of three in-person poster presentation sessions and for each of two virtual poster presentation sessions.

If you are registered to participate in-person, you are advised to bring your laptop with you to Reading (or to pair with a registered colleague who has one), so you can log in to participate maximally within and through the interactive hybrid conference platform.

2023 Registration Rates

1. Breakfast and lunch are provided each conference day (on-site, in Reading) for all registered, in-person participants. Both registered in-person participants and registered virtual participants will have access to attend live platform presentations delivered in Reading and to participate in Q&A in real time (either in-person or via Zoom) at the designated platform presentation time. Only registered, in-person participants will have access to the in-person poster presentations-with-live-discussion, at the designated presentation time, in Reading. All registered conference participants will have access to the online poster presentations-with-live-discussion, at the designated presentation time, on the hybrid conference platform. All registered conference participants will have continuous, asynchronous access to online content within the hybrid conference platform during the full conference period, as well as during the 30-day, post-conference period. This continuous online content includes, but is not limited to, uploaded content of posters and poster-video materials associated with each poster presented in Reading and with each virtually presented poster, and accompanying asynchronous, written exchange of Q&A on the uploaded content associated with each poster.
2. Registration period expires when the end-date has passed everywhere on Earth (End of Day, Anywhere on Earth (AoE), 11:59pm IDLW time zone, which is on the Western Hemisphere side of the International Date Line, UTC−12:00).
3. LMIC registrants are residents of least developed, low income, and lower middle income countries/territories who are eligible for reduced registration. LMIC eligibility is determined based on the OECD criteria posted here. (Note that residents of upper middle income countries/territories are NOT eligible for LMIC registration.) The same reduced, LMIC registration rate applies for both in-person and virtual registration types.
